A blanking customer needed to reduce labor and increase production rates in a steel blanking business.
THE PD&B SOLUTION
PD&B hit the ground running when the customer stated that they wanted to utilize a robot to pick and place steel blanks. While we use a variety of brands when it comes to robots, the customer liked the idea of utilizing a NACHI package. We took it from there developing a non-scratch accumulation conveyor with 5 zones, the robot base, a part accumulator with integral bundle exit conveyor, and a complete electrical controls package with programming. Now one operator, where it previously took 4, can run the entire line with no interruptions saving time and money. Ultimately, their costs have been reduced to the point where they are now selling to customers that were previously ignored due to quality and pricing.
